Cristiano Violani

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Professor Cristiano Violani is professor of Clinical and Health Psychology and chairs the Internal Evaluation Board at the University of Rome Sapienza. He is a member of the Operating Committee of CONVUI, the association of the evaluation boards of the Italian universities.
Born in 1950. Degree in Philosophy ("Sapienza" University - Rome, 1974). Fulbright Scholar and MA in Applied Behavior Analysis (W. Michigan University, 1974-1975). CNR Fellow (1976-1980). Visiting researcher at the University of California-Berkeley and Stanford University SDRTC (1978). Visiting scientist at the WPI MC of the University of Pittsburgh and the Department of Psychology of the City University of New York (1986).
He carried out his academic career at "la Sapienza”. Researcher in psychology (1980-87). Associate Professor of Physiological Psychology (1988-94), then of Methodology of Behavioral Sciences (1994-2000). Professor of General Psychology (2000-2006). Since 2006 he is Professor of Clinical Psychology in the 2nd Faculty of Psychology. From 2006 to 2008 he coordinates the interfaculty BS programme in Social Work, 2008 to 2011 chairs the Master programme in Health Clinical and Community Psychology at the 2nd Faculty of Psychology. Since 2011 he is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology.
He has been a member of the Internal Evaluation Board at the University of Rome Sapienza since 1998, and he chairs it since 2005. He participated in working groups on the quality of university education of CNVSU (2002-2003: Questionnaires assessing the students’ experiences. 2003-2004: Information for the accreditation of programmes); of the Foundation CRUI (2007-2008 Guidelines for quality design of the programmes); and KION (2008-9: E tools for internal evaluation and quality assurance “Clessidra”). Since 2006 he is elected in the CO of the National association of the Italian evaluation units (CoNVUI). Since 2012 he collaborates as an expert in the project AVA, the Evaluation and Accreditation activities of the National Evaluation and Research (ANVUR). Since 2006 he participated at the European Forum on Quality Assurance and the CDE EUA. In 2007 he organized the EQAF II in Rome. He has collaborated with Swiss OAQ and the Austrian Accreditation Council as an expert evaluator in the site visit to some universities. He collaborates in projects EU Tempus EQUAM (UB Barcelona) and EU LLP-ERASMUS IMS (Charité Berlin).
From 1981 to 1983 he was part of the Commission for the departmental organization at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". From 1982 to 1987 he was elected member of the Administration Board, and, from 1991 to 2003, member the Academic Senate at large of the same university.
From 1997 to 2008 he was elected member of the National Council of Universities where he coordinated the Committee of the area 11 (History, Philosophy, Education, Psychology), he was a member of the Court of discipline (up to the year 2000), and he was in charge of the information and external communication.
Engaged in research in psychophysiology of sleep since 1977, is the author of dozens of international publications in clinical psychophysiology and psychometrics, on the regulation and treatment of disorders of the sleep wake cycle. Currently, in addition to evaluation and quality assurance of research and university education, he is committed to research and interventions in the psychology of health (prevention of burnout, emotional self-regulation and behavior relevant to health, quality of sleep, quality of life and stress).
Since 1996 he has been coordinating a service for the treatment of sleep disorders and, since 2007, the departmental service of Clinical Psychology. He is a member of several scientific societies (ESRS, EAHP, AIP) and editorial boards. From 2008 to 2012, he was president of the Italian Society of Sleep Research. Since 2010, he coordinates the Section of Clinical and Dynamic Psychology of the Italian Association of Psychology and he is a member of the board of the association.
