Resource Efficiency and Innovation in AS Estonian Cell example

AS Estonian Cell is an aspen pulp production plant in Kunda, which started its activity in 2006. Estonian Cell’s foreign investment of 153 million euros is the largest investment in Estonia during last 20 years. The customers of aspen pulp are manufacturers of different printing and writing papers, paper board, tissue and specialty papers. Over the years, a solid, stable and regular customer base has been established: France, Germany and Italy have been key customers in European countries, and India and South Korea are important in the Asian market.

Estonian Cell has been constantly moving in the direction of sustainable business, the proof of which is the achievement of Responsible Business Index Certificate and Silver Level Quality Mark in 2017 and 2018, and Gold Level in 2019.

The company has achieved titles of ’Environmentally Friendly Company 2014’ and ’Environmentally Friendly Company 2019’ recognizing its consistent and innovative solutions for increasing resource efficiency.

Kersti Lužkov is working as environmental and quality manager of the company since its founding. In her presentation she is going to talk about new and exciting solutions, how they have succeeded to increase resource efficiency, recycle waste and support ecosystems.
